SCOTT CEMETERY

The Scott Cemetery is located in the northwest corner of the northwest quarter of section 14-20-37 in Wichita County.

I find no mention of this cemetery in the county records. The only record is the tombstone and the cable-fenced yard. The stone has these inscriptions: Alice M. Scott, daughter of D. C. and Maude Scott, born March 2, 1902, died March 8, 1902. Berdie M. Scott, daughter of J. H. and E. C. Scott, born December 17, 1890, died December 25, 1890. Wayne B. Scott son of W. A. (Willis) and Luela (Lillie) Scott, born October 10, 1895, died November 3, 1895. There was a settlement of Scott's in the neighborhood, which is why we call it the Scott Cemetery. Hearsay has it that there is a grave of a little black boy in the cemetery, also that there were other graves that were later moved to the Leoti Cemetery. More information would be welcome.
