ZION LYDIA LUTHERAN CEMETERY
Lydia Lutheran Cemetery (Evangelical) may be found in the northwest corner of the northeast quarter of section 32-20-36, Wichita County, Kansas.
William H. Kuhlmann and wife Minnie deeded it to the Evangelical Lutheran church, an area of some fifteen acres to be used for church purposes, with the stipulation that the land should revert to he owner if it ceased to be used. This instrument was dated December 21, 1906, and recorded in Volume 19, page 6.
The first person to be buried there if our records are correct was Martha Breitkreutz, born November 25, 1839, and died October 8, 1914. The last to be buried there was Ivy Alleen Kuhlmann, who was born in 1912 and died in 1968. It is also recorded in Volume 38, page 238, that the trustees of the church gave this tract back to Leona P. Sonderegger on August 26, 1961. Also dated that day, Leona P. Sonderegger and husband Paul deeded a tract of land 490 feet by 460 feet in the northwest corner of the above quarter to the Wichita County Cemetery District. Ernst Minor was the register of deeds who recorded this transaction.
